FINAL PROJECT! : Magazine

Finally, this is the Final Project for my class for DDC subject :)
The project sounds fun but challenging at the same time, because we have to make something that is really new for us, and need time and patience. We have to make a: MAGAZINE :D
Our class decided to choose one theme for the magazine, so it`ll unite together, since our lecturers said that the main problem of a magazine that made by some people is that there`s no unity. We decided to make a gadget magz, titled : Study-O, inspired by our second home as an architect, Studio, the place where ideas and thoughts come, and so on :)
The target market of this magz is University Students, so this magz is simply a fun-gadget magz that would be interesting enough for University students to read it. We divided our class to some groups with our own responsibilities for the magz,so we were kind of become a professional magazine maker at that time :P
And also, we have to make at least 5 pages article for the magazine.
Me, i make an article about the must have gadgets for University students, so first, i do the research from many University students, and then make the top 10 of them, and the other 2.
The hardest part of making it was do the research, and calculate them all, but it was fun :D

Operating Auto CAD

AutoCAD is a CAD (Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Drafting) software application for 2D and 3D design and draft. Well, that`s a short information i got from wikipedia about AutoCAD. This software is one of the important software for Architect, to make a models in 2D or 3D.
As a start for learn how to operate AutoCAD, my DDC lecturers gave us an assignment to make a table (any kind of table) with AutoCAD. I decided to make a table with single leg, that usually placed in terrace, the very simple one.

But i plan to try to make another type of table with using AutiCAD, hopefully i can do it fast, since my laptop is broken and i need to wait until it`s fixed. I`ll try to make a table with four legs or another type like this :

3 Minutes Movie about Engineering Center University of Indonesia Building

There are so many ways to introduce something to public. For example, how to introduce a building to public in an interesting way. Related to that issue, our next assignment is to make a 3 minutes movie about a building, any kind of building, but we have only 3 minutes. As a good architect, we should know how to introduce a building or anything else, so that it`ll be interesting and people would like to know more about us and our works.

This assignment is a group assignment, me, and my 2 other partners, Aurie and Yudithia, decided to make a movie about a modern building that also really close to our daily life as a University`s students in University of Indonesia. We made a movie about Engineering Center, which is located in Engineering Faculty in University of Indonesia.

This movie starts with our introduction of 3 of us, and then continue with the photos we`ve taken of the buildings and some information of it. We also put an interesting song on purpose to make the viewer get more interest to watch and know more about it.

Playing around with: Google Sketchup ! (Making a Rectorate UI Building)

As an architecture students, being able to operate some software that related to our job as an Architect in the future, is a must. One of the most important software for Architect is Google Skethcup or Skecthup. SketchUp is a 3D modeling program designed for architectural, civil, and mechanical engineers as well as filmmakers, game developers, and related professions. It also includes features to facilitate the placement of models in Google Earth. It is designed to be easier to use than other 3D CAD programs.

Many different 3D and 2D exporters are available in SketchUp for uses such as rendering. This model was made in SketchUp and rendered in Kerkythea.

On April 27, 2006, Google announced Google SketchUp, a freely-downloadable version of SketchUp. The free version is not as capable as SketchUp Pro, but it includes integrated tools for uploading content to Google Earth and to the Google 3D Warehouse, a repository of models created in SketchUp. They have also added a new toolbox where you can walk, see things from a person's point of view, labels for models, a look around tool, and an "any polygon" shape tool.

My lecturer gave me an assignment to make The Rectorate building in University of Indonesia with Sketchup. At first, it was so hard to operate this software, but then i started to get use to it, and these are some photos of my work on Skecthup (it was my very first time using sketchup, so i wanna say sorry for the weird shape of the building hehe) Enjoy it :)

 * In some perspective, the building looks white, but actually i`ve colored the whole building with the (almost) same color with the real Rectorate Building in UI. This is my first time using this software, and i`m enjoying it, but still need more practice to make the better one :)

Photos Series

After our first Photography`s assignment, in the next meeting, the lecturer gave us another assignment, which is a bit harder i think. Because, besides we need to take pictures, we also have to makes story from it. So, we need to control the time or the movement or anything we need, to make them look like a story. How the story is about or going to be, up to us. Considering the lack of the time i had, and the difficulties i was about to face with this assignment, i decided to make the story of someone that is so close to me and could easily took her time for me, and the decision come to my housemaid. I made a story about my housemaid`s life. I want to show her daily activities every day, and make a story from it. And here`s the story of my photo series, Enjoy it! :)

Chacha`s Life as a Housemaid

Once upon a time, lived a girl named Chacha. In Spanish, “Chacha” means a female servant or a maid. Accidentally, her name represents her job in her real life, which was a maid. Chacha is a 17 years old girl, came from Bali. She has a beautiful face with her exotic skin color and her slim body. She never thought that in her future she will become a maid, but she live her life as a maid with joy and never complain on things. She worked for a family in Jakarta, so she has to live far away from her family. But she always tries to enjoy everyday of her life and do her best for her work.

Everyday, she start her day, woke up in a very morning, and get ready to do the things that a maid used to do. But before she start her day with anything, she always first pray to god for everything and always hoping for god`s help to face everything in her life. After that, she starts her work by sweep the floor for the whole house. She does it everyday. Her boss’ house is not a type of small house, so to do this, it is not an easy job, but she never complain, and do her job well. After sweep the floor, it is the time to moping it. And the next work waiting is, tidy up all rooms that exist at this house. After her tidy up the whole thing, from the bedrooms, living room, dining room, terraces, and all rooms, she got to wash up all dirty clothes. Her boss has taught her how to use the washing machine, so it wasn`t a hard thing for her. Next after that, she has to put all of the clothes in the drying ground. Sometimes, while doing her job, when she felt tired, she usually get some rest and relax looking at the blue beautiful sky.

After she finishes her job to put all the clothes to the drying ground, it is time for lunch already. She turns on the TV, choose the best channel that she likes, get some food to eat, and having the lunch while watching the TV. This moment must be her best moment of the day since she can really get relax at that time after a hectic day.

After having the lunch, chacha has to go back to work and do the whole things. She has to starts taking all the dried up clothes. After that she has to iron them all, and put it all to the closet.  After she finishes with the household things, now is the time for her to go the background at the afternoon, and sweep the dead leaves there. She really likes doing this job, sweep the background, because she likes being outside and see the nature. Sometimes she also play with the family`s pet, it is a rabbit, a cute little brown rabbit. She loves animal so she likes to play around with it in the background.

When the entire job has finished, she could take a walk at the afternoon, making new friends with the neighbors and enjoying outside situation with some fresh air. She really enjoy this moment. In fact, she really enjoy every second of her life spent at this house, because she loves her job as a housemaid.

It was a very silly story, wasn't it? hehe, I hope at least the reader can enjoy it. And here are some photos i`ve taken from her daily life as a housemaid, i tried to use the principle of taking pictures when i was doing it, and since she was a bit busy and I also was very busy, we finally get the time to do all these stuff at the afternoon which is not a very ideal time for taking pictures, but i did my best, so hopefully you all like it :)
